I guess I have not been sensitive these days.
Last evening, after our meeting with our mentor, Kelvin, my newbie colleague Andrew, was somehow disappointed with himself for not putting up much technical analysis on his currency report. He somehow has some difficulties in grasping most of the financial terminology and technical analysis in such a short period of time.
He confessed to me that, in the meeting, Kelvin had told him to put in more effort than us, since he has zero finance background. He feel it that way too, and was telling me that he don't have a degree like us, so he needs to really buck up.
Seriously, I really hate it, when people start comparing with you having a degree, I heard many times like, "Wah! A degree holder leh?". I mean, come on loh! It's just a cert, it doesn't make you an elite. I really hate that kind of comparison. Damn.
So immediately, I stopped him, "Hey, seriously, during my Uni days, we were never taught comprehensively about Technical Analysis. I'm just like you. We had zero knowledge when we stepped into this industry, Okie? So it has nothing to do with us having a degree."
However, to my surprise, he was more agitated than me, "It's different one, it's different, bro, you see, you may just spent 3 hours to grasp the essence of technical analysis, because in Uni or JC, you were taught or train in a way to study. But I'm different, I may take 3 days to understand what you had understood already. You get what I mean?"
I stared at him blankly. "Okie, I rested my case, sire!", I told myself. Maybe he's right. I did notice that he has difficulties in learning them. Although, I do not totally agreed with him on the part that "Uni taught us the proper way of learning.", I did not press on further. I feel that he must be feeling quite upset about himself, already. In fact, on our way to MRT station, his mind seems drifted to outer space. Seriously, I feel bad for him. Really.
Damned, I should have shut my trap just now, right?
There is nothing much I or rather, we could do for him. I just told Xiao Qian to help him together, as much as we can, bah. The rest is really up to him.
P.S: To graduate from University, is my promise made to my grandfather, at his funeral, 12 yrs ago. And that is true. I feel that the education is merely equiping what you need to know, how to walk the rest of your path is up to you.
